Florida Guardsman claims victory in national-level cyber challenge

U.S. Air Force Tech Sgt. Brandon Devault, a mission defense operator assigned to the 125th Communications Flight, is pictured at his workstation at the 125th Fighter Wing in Jacksonville, Florida, Jan. 7, 2023. Devault was part of the National Guard's Cyber Team who won the SANS NetWars DoD Services Cup Championship Dec. 16, 2022 for the third consecutive year. In his role, Devault protected infrastructure such as power grid systems and water facilities, and focused on mining data anomalies which are potential signs of an adversarial attack. His team consisted of two Air National Guard and three Army National Guard members from across the country, resulting in a first-place win in the U.S. Services Cup.
