Florida Air National Guard Recruiters are now community based. Published July 9, 2009 By Staff Sgt. Jaclyn Carver 125 FW A ribbon cutting ceremony was held July 8, 2009 to celebrate the grand opening of the first and only "Store Front" Air National Guard recruiting office in Florida -- Assistant Adjutant General and Florida Air National Guard Commander, Brig. Gen. Joseph G. Balskus, was on hand for the festivities. After cutting the ribbon and touring the new office, Brig. Gen. Balskus said the more accessible facility "gives recruiting that community connection and is ushering in a new era in FLANG recruiting." The new office is located at 11915 Beach Blvd in Jacksonville, Florida and will give the recruiters and prospective recruits in the community easier access to one another. The push for storefront recruiting offices began after September 11, 2001, when bases began to tighten security and it became harder for civilians to enter a military installation. There are currently 50 storefront recruiting offices nationwide for the Air National Guard.
