The Florida National Guard’s CBRNE Enhanced Response Force Package (CERFP) recently showcased its emergency response capabilities in an external evaluation conducted at Camp Blanding Joint Training Center, Florida, Sept. 20-23, 2023.
CERFP includes more than 200 Soldiers and Airmen from Air and Army units who come together as one larger unit in the wake of a catastrophe. During the exercise, teams conducted searches of collapsed buildings and structures, performed rescue tasks to extract trapped casualties, facilitated mass decontamination measures, performed medical triage and initial treatment to stabilize patients for transport to medical facilities, and recovered CBRN incident fatalities. Participating Florida Air National Guard units included the 125th Medical Detachment, 125th Fatality Search and Recovery Team and 290th Joint Communications Support Squadron.
Each element — CBRN, medics, decontamination, search and extraction, and FSRT (fatality, search and recovery team) — is evaluated as part of the total force response.
