Brig. Gen. French earned an active duty commission through the United States Air Force Academy in June 1999. Following graduation, he attended undergraduate pilot training at Columbus Air Force Base, Mississippi, earning his Wings in November 2000, and was selected to continue his pilot training on the F-15C Eagle at Tyndall Air Force Base, Florida. As an Air Force fighter pilot, he served on active duty for 11 years in multiple operational and leadership assignments that included Mission and Flight Commander, F-15 Eagle Instructor Pilot, Weapons Officer, Weapons Instructor and Standardization and Evaluation Flight Examiner, while serving with the 493rd Fighter Squadron, 48th Fighter Wing, Royal Air Force Lakenheath, United Kingdom; 67th Fighter Squadron and 18th Wing, Kadena Air Force Base, Okinawa, Japan; and 433rd Weapons Squadron and 57th Wing, Nellis Air Force Base, Las Vegas, Nevada. In July 2010, he transitioned to the Florida Air National Guard, in the 125th Fighter Wing, serving in assignments of increasing responsibility that included Chief of Standards and Evaluations for the 125th Operations Group; Director of Operations for the 159th Fighter Squadron; Commander for the 125th Maintenance Squadron; and Commander for the 125th Operations Group. In May 2018, he transitioned to serve on a statutory tour as the Air National Guard Advisor to the Commander, United States Air Force Europe and Air Force Africa, Ramstein Air Force Base, Germany. In January 2020, he returned to Florida to serve as the Commander of the 125th Fighter Wing, leading over 1,600 Airmen in providing Air and Space Superiority, Space Control, Expeditionary Engineering, Joint Communication Support, Battlefield Weather and Agile Combat Support for worldwide contingency and domestic operations. He has deployed in support of the North American Treaty Organization Alert mission in Iceland, Operation Atlantic Resolve in Europe and flown numerous missions supporting Operation Noble Eagle throughout the United States.
Brig. Gen. French's academic education includes a Bachelor's Degree in Aeronautical Engineering from the United States Air Force Academy and a Master's Degree in Theology from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. His military education includes Squadron Officer School, United States Air Force Weapons School, Air Command and Staff College and Air War College. His awards and decorations include the Legion of Merit, Meritorious Service Medal (3rd Award), Air Force Commendation Medal (2nd Award), Air Force Achievement Medal and Combat Readiness Medal (3rd Award). He is an Air Force Command Pilot with over 2,500 flying hours in the T-37 (Tweet), T-38 (Talon) and F-15 (Eagle), and is a commercial pilot with a major U.S. airline.
