Operations amplified to support alert mission
An F-16 fighter jet assigned to the 93rd Fighter Squadron at Homestead Air Reserve Base takes off on a training mission. Homestead pilots, maintainers and support personnel have volunteered to temporarily support “Operation Noble Eagle” in addition to training for combat operations. The reservists are pulling the alert mission temporarily in lieu of a detachment of Florida Air National Guardsmen based out of the 125th Fighter Wing, Jacksonville, Fla. The Guardsmen are normally assigned to the mission and fly and maintain F-15A fighter jets from Homestead ARB, but the entire Air Force fleet of about 670 F-15A through F-15D model fighter jets was grounded due to precautionary testing for airworthiness problems on Nov. 2.
